Major AccountabilitiesOversight of Tax Compliance Programs & Risk Management
Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of PMI’s direct and indirect tax compliance programs (Income Tax, VAT, Excise). Supervise gap analyses, training initiatives, and procedural enhancements to ensure full alignment with local statutory requirements and PMI global standards. Conduct periodic risk assessments and provide strategic direction to mitigate tax risks across operations. Act as the primary liaison with regional tax teams and internal departments to resolve complex compliance queries.
Review of Tax Computations & Reporting
Supervise the preparation and review of monthly and annual income tax and deferred tax computations. Ensure accuracy and timeliness of GMRB reporting and corporate tax filings. Coordinate with external auditors to finalize tax positions and ensure audit readiness. Provide guidance to junior staff on technical matters and reporting standards.
Tax Audits, Monitoring & Legislative Advocacy
Manage tax audits and monitoring processes by coordinating with internal departments and external consultants. Lead discussions with tax authorities, presenting the company’s position with supporting documentation. Monitor and resolve pending tax matters, and proactively propose legislative changes to safeguard the company’s interests.
Strategic Tax Planning & Cash Flow Optimization
Identify and evaluate tax-saving and cash flow optimization opportunities. Oversee the preparation of documentation and engagement with tax authorities to secure benefits. Maintain strong relationships with regulatory bodies to ensure timely resolution of routine and strategic tax matters.
SOX Compliance & Internal Controls
Ensure rigorous adherence to SOX requirements related to taxation. Review and approve tax reconciliations and schedules. Collaborate with auditors to validate the effectiveness of internal controls and implement improvements where necessary.
Tax Advisory & Business Support
Provide strategic tax advisory services to internal stakeholders on pricing, complex transactions, exports/imports, and withholding tax implications. Monitor legislative changes and assess their impact on business operations. Ensure timely communication and implementation of regulatory updates across departments.
Statutory Payments & Regulatory Compliance
Oversee the accuracy and timeliness of statutory payments including Professional Tax, Tobacco Cess, and Stamp Duty. Review calculations and ensure compliance with evolving legal requirements. Supervise annual audits and ensure all liabilities are discharged without delay.
Training & Stakeholder Engagement
Design and deliver training programs for internal stakeholders on tax compliance, legislative changes, and PMI requirements. Foster a culture of tax awareness and proactive compliance across the organization. Ensure effective communication and coordination between departments to enhance service delivery and compliance.
Who We’re Looking For
Education
CA, ACCA, or MBA/BBA (Finance)
Experience
6–8 years of relevant experience, with at least 4-5 years in a tax role (ideally supervisory or leadership role).
Knowledge & Skills
- Deep understanding of Pakistani tax laws, excise regulations, and international tax principles
- Strong grasp of accounting and financial reporting standards
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and presentation skills
