Position Overview:

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Greenhouse Manager with expertise in agriculture and hydroponics. The ideal candidate will oversee all aspects of greenhouse operations, from managing crops to ensuring optimal growing conditions, while maintaining sustainability practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage day-to-day greenhouse operations, including planting, harvesting, and general maintenance.
• Oversee the hydroponic system for both flowers and vegetables, ensuring optimal nutrient delivery and environmental conditions.
• Monitor plant health and address any pest or disease issues promptly.
• Collaborate with the agricultural team to implement innovative farming techniques.

Qualifications:

Establishes and maintains high horticultural standards and practices; providing direction, training and motivation for the horticultural staff, interns and volunteers.

• Works with garden volunteers/docents developing long-term productive relationships and growing the size of the program over time.

• Manages and supports overall plant health and soil nutrition strategies for all gardens to include sustainable gardening practices and integrated pest management in the outdoor and indoor gardens.

• Establishes and oversees a systematic plant records policy, including direction of the plant collection policy and design aesthetic in coordination with Taltree’s master plan, mission, and strategies.

• Coordinates heating and cooling of greenhouses, irrigation systems and maintenance of horticultural equipment collaboratively with Grounds and Buildings Manager.

Ability to organize, plan and teach instructional classes in horticulture related topics.

Qualifications:

MSc or Ph.D. in Agronomy, Plant Physiology, or Entomology.

Responsibilities:

1. Report to the PI/PD and assist in the successful implementation of the project.
2. Interact with Ministries and research organizations for user requirement/data collection.
3. Derive results by critical analysis of data, transforming results into recommendations.
4. Generate a blueprint for implementation of recommendations through interaction with stakeholders.
5. Assist in dissemination of results through publications, workshops, seminars, etc.

• Standardize information across all channels.
• Lead a team of agricultural specialists handling:
  • Farmers’ queries on helpline.
  • Acquiring Mandi & Market Rates and updating on the respective BKK interfaces.
