ABOUT THE ROLE
Afiniti is looking for a Senior Analyst, Database Administration (DBA) who is analytical, detail-oriented, and driven by data accuracy and system reliability. Reporting to the Manager, Database Administration, you will play a key role in maintaining, optimizing, and safeguarding Afiniti's database infrastructure across global environments. This role is critical in ensuring high availability, performance tuning, and seamless integration of data systems that power Afiniti's AI-driven solutions.
Our DBA team collaborates closely with engineering, infrastructure, and data science teams across multiple regions. The environment is fast-paced and collaborative, offering exposure to a range of technologies and complex data challenges while working alongside skilled professionals who will support your technical and professional growth.
What will be your key deliverables
- Database Maintenance – Ensure databases are properly configured, optimized, and backed up to support high availability.
- Performance Tuning – Monitor and improve database performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks proactively.
- Data Security & Compliance – Implement and maintain security controls to protect sensitive information and ensure compliance with internal policies.
- Backup & Recovery – Manage database backup strategies and perform recovery operations as required.
- Collaboration & Support – Work closely with development and infrastructure teams to support deployments, troubleshoot production issues, and ensure smooth operations.
Who you are
Experience: 5+ years of experience in database administration or a related field, preferably within a large-scale or global organization.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline (certifications in SQL Server, or similar technologies are a plus).
Skills
- Strong knowledge of MySQL, PostgreSQL and/or SQL Server database environments.
- Experience with database performance tuning, query optimization, and replication.
- Hands-on experience in backup, recovery, and database security management.
- Proficiency in automation and scripting (PowerShell, Python, Bash).
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
- Clear communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and deliver results under tight deadlines.
Behavioral Traits: Analytical, dependable, collaborative, and able to thrive in a fast-paced technical environment.
Nice to have
- Working knowledge of Python for automation and scripting.
- Familiarity with Airflow for workflow orchestration and data pipeline management.
