About the Role
We’re on the lookout for an experienced and proactive Tax Accountant to join our growing Finance team at Mous. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a role in an ambitious, fast-scaling company and take ownership of our global tax responsibilities. In this role, you'll lead on all things tax, ensuring compliance, accurate filings, and efficient processes across multiple jurisdictions. Your primary focus will be the preparation and submission of global sales tax returns, alongside supporting our month-end reporting, corporation tax filings, and taking ownership of our UK R&D claims. You’ll thrive here if you’re detail-oriented, highly organised, and capable of managing multiple deadlines. This role is ideal for someone keen to broaden their international tax exposure in a hands-on environment.
About You
We’re looking for a self-starter with strong technical expertise and practical experience, someone who’s ready to get stuck in, solve problems, and continuously look for ways to improve how we do things. You’ll be expected to hit the ground running, build a deep understanding of our finance systems and order flows, and become a key tax contact across the business. Reporting to our Financial Controller, Hussain Abbas, you’ll be joining an agile and talented Finance team here at Mous. This role will be situated at our office in Lahore (Upper Mall), working on-site from Monday to Thursday, with Friday being an optional WFH day. The normal working hours will be 10 am - 7 pm PKT.
Key Responsibilities
Sales tax returns
- Prepare and submit UK VAT returns
- Manage US sales tax registrations and filings in partnership with our third-party tax provider
- Prepare and submit IOSS (EU) returns and manage other EU VAT registrations and filings
- Oversee and complete in-house tax returns across multiple international markets (Norway, New Zealand, Australia, Singapore to name a few!)
- Develop and maintain robust internal processes to ensure input VAT recovery and compliance
- Liaise with tax authorities on ad hoc issues
- Monitor international sales versus registration thresholds and manage any new registrations as required
Corporation tax returns
- Work with our professional services providers to prepare our UK and US corporation tax returns
- Manage US Franchise tax returns
R&D claim
- Lead preparation of UK R&D claim, working closely with our Product team
- Provide detailed analysis and supporting documentation for R&D expenditure
Import Duties
- Pulling together ad hoc analysis on the financial impact of international duties

- Accurate and timely submission of all global tax returns
- Smooth coordination with external advisors and tax authorities
- Proactive identification and management of new tax registration requirements
- Successful preparation and submission of the UK R&D claim with strong supporting documentation
- Implementation and maintenance of efficient, compliant tax processes
- Effective communication and collaboration across internal teams
- Minimal errors or rework required due to strong attention to detail
- Consistent delivery of high-quality work under tight deadlines
- Demonstrated ownership and initiative in solving tax-related challenges
- Positive contribution to continuous improvements within the Finance function
Skills requirements
Hard skills
- You’ll have 3 years of previous experience as a Tax Accountant, Management Accountant (or similar) role, ideally in a D2C, Consumer Goods, or eCommerce environment
- ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified (or equivalent)
- A strong knowledge of sales tax and corporation tax is a must!
- Practical experience in preparing and submitting global sales tax returns is a big plus!
- Strong numerical ability with advanced Excel skills
Soft skills
- You love attention to detail! You understand that your accuracy is critical to the smooth operation of our Finance function
- Have a strong sense of ownership, you set a high standard, and you are proactive, always looking to raise further
- You are adaptable and can prioritise in a fast-paced environment
Nice-to-have
- Experience using accountancy tools, exposure to ERP software is a bonus (but not necessary)
