Job Purpose:
To ensure that all fabricated medical metal components and assemblies meet the company's quality standards, customer requirements, and relevant international standards (ISO 13485, ISO 9001, etc.). The QC Engineer is responsible for implementing quality procedures, conducting inspections, analyzing defects, and driving continuous improvement in manufacturing quality.
Key Responsibilities:
· Perform in-process and final inspections of fabricated parts, welds, machined components, and assemblies.
· Inspect and verify raw material upon receipt to ensure it meets quality standards using instruments such as Vernier calipers, micrometers, gauges, height gauges, radious gauges etc.
· Verify surface finishing, passivation, and polishing quality per medical-grade requirements
· Ensure raw materials meet specifications and verify incoming inspection reports.
· Document and maintain inspection records, quality reports, and non-conformance reports (NCRs)
· Implement and monitor compliance with ISO 13485, ISO 9001, CE Mark, and GMP/ MDR quality requirements.
· Support preparation and execution of internal and external audits (e.g., by certification bodies or clients).
· Ensure proper traceability of materials, parts, and production batches.
· Assist in maintaining Device History Records (DHR) and Device Master Records (DMR) for medical devices.
· Investigate quality issues and customer complaints, perform root cause analysis (RCA), and propose corrective & preventive actions (CAPA).
· Develop and maintain control plans, FMEA, and process validation reports
· Participate in process validation, equipment qualification, and calibration activities
· Identify and drive process improvements to reduce rework, scrap, and defects.
· Support training of operators and inspectors on inspection techniques and quality procedures
· Recommend improvements in fabrication, welding, and polishing processes to achieve consistent quality.
· Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly QC reports, highlighting trends and key performance indicators (KPIs)
· Maintain updated Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions (WIs).
· Entering data of all the inspection stages in ERP (SAP B1)
Skills:
· Strong understanding of Quality Management Systems (QMS) and SOP implementation.
· Deep knowledge of metal manufacturing processes to identify and resolve quality issues.
· Ability to interpret blueprints, technical documents, and manuals.
· Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
· ISO 13485 & ISO 9001 quality management systems
· Strong documentation and reporting skills.
· Experience using precision measurement equipment to ensure adherence to specifications
· ISO 13485 & ISO 9001 quality management systems
· Good knowledge of metal processes: casting, forging, perforation, machining, welding, heat treatment, injection molding, finishing etc.
· Strong skills in measurement tools & equipment (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc).
· On‐time Delivery with acceptable quality after controlling rework.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Qualification:
· Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering
· Experience: 3-5 years of relevant experience in metal manufacturing / fabrication; of which at least 1-2 years in a supervisory role.
