ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Manager OC&OP and Regional Director S&S, you will be responsible to implement security management program and related policies at country wide research sites/ operations. You will perform a variety of security functions including Security Risk Assessment, Premises Vulnerability Surveys for all new and existing research sites/ facilities. You will review pre-award & award research funding requests and provide recommendations for security clearance. You will ensure security of all research activities, movements of AKU research teams and compliance to award stage recommended security measures. You will conduct routine inspection & maintenance of physical and electronic security equipment at country wide research sites/ operations. You will conduct investigations of security incidents pertaining to research sites/ operations and training and awareness of research coordinators, sites / field staffs.
Specifically, you will be responsible for:
- Assist the Manager Security OC&OP in the implementation of AKU Security Management Program and related policies at country wide Research Sites/ Operations.
- Conduct/ participate in Security Risk Assessment / Annual Risk Analysis activity for country wide Research Sites/ Operations and prepare risk mitigation strategies for safety related observations.
- Conduct / participate in Premises Vulnerability Analysis (Physical Facility Inspection Survey) for New and Existing Research sites across the country, in consultation with relevant stakeholders.
- Carry out periodic facility inspections and environmental rounds for country wide Research Sites/ Operations, prepare and share environmental round reports with relevant stakeholders.
- Review pre-award and award research funding requests and provide recommendations for security clearance to the Manager OC&OP. Also maintain an updated database of security reviews of grant projects.
- Ensure security of all research activities, movements of AKU research teams and compliance to award stage recommended security measures.
- Remain in contact with district administration/notables for security of field workers involved in all active research activities at countrywide Research Site/Projects.
- Maintain active contacts and close liaison with Law enforcement agencies to get timely security intelligence / information and to be able to provide security clearance for country wide research activities.
- Develop and maintain data base of the notables/influential of the areas where research offices are located/research activities are to be carried out.
- Carry out investigation of all security incidents related to country wide research sites/ operations.
- Carry out periodic inspection & maintenance of physical and electronic security equipment at country wide research sites/ operations.
- Develop and monitor Security Goals for country wide research sites/ operations and present updates in MRC, as and when required.
- Plan and conduct training sessions for security and other research staff at country wide research sites/locations.

You should:
- Graduate from HEC recognized Institute/ University
- Retired Armed Forces Officer equivalent to Captain/Major rank.
- Termination on disciplinary grounds/moral turpitude not acceptable.
- Withdrawal for Military Academy on any ground not acceptable.
- Be able to carry out visits of country wide research / field sites for risk assessment and surveys, inspections and trainings.
- Be proficient in Security Incidents Investigations.
- Have excellent communication skills in English & Urdu (knowledge of local languages will be preferred).
- Proficient in MS Office & Outlook.
- Have good training and development skills.

We are looking for a Food, Health and Safety Officer to join our east London local authority client on a contract basis
In this role you will be delivering our food hygiene and standards inspection programme, investigating complaints regarding food and health & safety matters. You will also be assisting with a variety of other functions including health & safety at work, investigation of accidents and infectious disease control. Your work will include providing comments on licensing and planning applications, as well as event consultations.
As a regulatory role you will carry out appropriate enforcement, in line with the Council’s enforcement policy; providing advice, respond to complaints and serving notices as necessary. You will also be expected to attend court and other hearings to provide evidence and lead on prosecutions. As part of the team you will undertake a multi-disciplined enforcement caseload and be able to manage your work effectively.
This may include undertaking monitoring visits at unsociable hours though not on an on call basis. We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated team player who is customer focused, technically knowledgeable and with good communication skills. You will be flexible in your approach to work being able to support other officers when necessary.
You will need to have a good working knowledge of IT systems including but not limited to MS office and case management systems. You will have post qualification experience and be competent under the Food Law Code of Practice to inspect high risk food businesses. You will also be competent to enforce under the Health & Safety at Work Act and associated regulations.
You must hold a suitable qualification as listed in the Food Law Code of Practice. You will be able to provide, on request, a copy of your competency framework and current and appropriate CPD. You will be based as a hybrid of home working and from the Town Hall with the expectation of site visits where required.
