The Aga Khan University Institute for Educational Development (AKU-IED) invites applications for a faculty position in Research methods with a particular focus on quantitative methods, with an academic background in teaching mathematics, psychology or a related subject. The ideal candidate will hold a PhD and have a proven record in conducting rigorous quantitative research. The successful candidate will contribute to teaching, research, and academic leadership, and will play an essential role in strengthening the Institute’s commitment to addressing key educational challenges through data-driven insights.

ResponsibilitiesYou will be responsible to:
- design, plan, and deliver courses on research methods and his/her discipline for graduate and PhD programs;
- supervise and mentor graduate and PhD students in their research projects, dissertations, and theses;
- conduct independent and collaborative research;
- publish high-quality research outputs, including articles in peer-reviewed journals and conference papers;
- lead research projects, secure research grants from internal and external sources, and collaborate on interdisciplinary research initiatives;
- assume academic leadership roles within the Institute;
- offer training in quantitative research methodologies for students, faculty, and educational professionals;
- present research findings at national and international conferences and seminars;
- participate in committees, curriculum reviews, examination and other such activities for the smooth running of the Institute.
You should have:
- PhD in Mathematics, Psychology, or a related field;
- strong academic and research background in quantitative research methodologies, including experience with research supporting software (e.g., SPSS, EViews, R, STATA);
- track record of publishing high-quality research in peer-reviewed journals, with a focus on education or social sciences;
- experience in supervising graduate and PhD students, with a focus on research design, data collection, and analysis;
- excellent conceptual, analytical, and communication skills (oral and written), with the ability to present complex data and research findings clearly;
- a passion for advancing education through teaching and research;
- ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams and in diverse academic environments;
- commitment to academic growth, continuous learning, and contributing to the academic community;
- Copies of your last three publications and/or significant research outputs.
- A cover letter outlining your reasons for applying and how your qualifications align with the role.
- Names and contact details (including email addresses) of at least three referees familiar with your recent work history.
