Position Overview:
As a premier higher education institutiondriving innovation and excellence, NUST seeks a dynamic, and visionary leaderto head the Jinnah School of Public Policy and Leadership (JSPPL), a flagshipinitiative of the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST),Islamabad. JSPPL is envisioned as a dynamic, reform-driven institution committedto academic excellence and cultivating the next generation of leaders forPakistan.
The Principal shall play a foundationalrole in institution-building—setting academic direction, leading facultyrecruitment, building national and international partnerships, and ensuringimpact-oriented teaching, research, and policy engagement.
Qualification:
- PhDin a relevant social science discipline (Public Policy, PoliticalScience, Public Administration, Sociology, Economics, Development Studies,IR, Strategic Studies, Peace and Conflict Studies) from a reputableHEC-recognized institute.
Publications & Experience: The candidate must have the publicationsand experience as per HEC criteria for faculty appointments, however, it ispreferable to have:
- Atleast 15 years of relevant academic, research, and leadershipexperience , grounded in higher education.
- Astrong record of scholarly publications in reputable journals with asignificant impact factor.
- Demonstratedexperience in leadership roles, such as Dean, Director, or Chairperson.Given the dynamic nature of the position, proven practitioner experiencein policy-making, public sector, think tanks, international organizationsis preferred.
- Provenability to design and lead academic programs and institutionalpartnerships in particular with reputable international academicinstitutes.
- Strongcommitment to innovation, diversity, excellence, and nation-buildingthrough education.
Key Responsibilities: The Principal/Dean will provide strategic,academic, and administrative leadership to establish JSPPL as a leading publicpolicy and leadership institute.
- Developand execute the strategic plan for the establishment and growth of JSPPL.
- Designand implement rigorous academic programs at the undergraduate andgraduate levels in governance and public policy.
- Operationalizepractitioners courses / certifications / training modules for continuousprofessional education and mid and senior leadership training.
- Introduceinnovative pedagogical practices including simulations, policy labs, andfield-based research.
- Leadfaculty recruitment, development, and performance in line withinternational standards.
- Cultivatepartnerships with the Government of Pakistan, provincial administrations,legislative bodies, international development organizations, privatesector entities, and academic institutions.
- Leadefforts in securing external funding, grants, and philanthropic supportfor school development and research.
- Serveas the chief advocate and spokesperson for JSPPL within NUST andexternally.
- Ensurecompliance with HEC’s quality assurance standards , program accreditation requirements, and strategic reporting.
