Position Overview:

The Principal shall play a foundationalrole in institution-building—setting academic direction, leading facultyrecruitment, building national and international partnerships, and ensuringimpact-oriented teaching, research, and policy engagement.
Qualification:
- PhDin a relevant social science discipline (Public Policy, PoliticalScience, Public Administration, Sociology, Economics, Development Studies,IR, Strategic Studies, Peace and Conflict Studies) from a reputableHEC-recognized institute.
Publications & Experience: The candidate must have the publicationsand experience as per HEC criteria for faculty appointments, however, it ispreferable to have:
- Atleast 15 years of relevant academic, research, and leadershipexperience , grounded in higher education.
- Astrong record of scholarly publications in reputable journals with asignificant impact factor.
- Demonstratedexperience in leadership roles, such as Dean, Director, or Chairperson.Given the dynamic nature of the position, proven practitioner experiencein policy-making, public sector, think tanks, international organizationsis preferred.

Key Responsibilities: The Principal/Dean will provide strategic,academic, and administrative leadership to establish JSPPL as a leading publicpolicy and leadership institute.
- Developand execute the strategic plan for the establishment and growth of JSPPL.
- Designand implement rigorous academic programs at the undergraduate andgraduate levels in governance and public policy.
- Operationalizepractitioners courses / certifications / training modules for continuousprofessional education and mid and senior leadership training.
- Introduceinnovative pedagogical practices including simulations, policy labs, andfield-based research.
- Leadfaculty recruitment, development, and performance in line withinternational standards.
- Cultivatepartnerships with the Government of Pakistan, provincial administrations,legislative bodies, international development organizations, privatesector entities, and academic institutions.
- Leadefforts in securing external funding, grants, and philanthropic supportfor school development and research.
- Serveas the chief advocate and spokesperson for JSPPL within NUST andexternally.
- Ensurecompliance with HEC’s quality assurance standards , program accreditation requirements, and strategic reporting.

- Regularly updating and maintaining databases / time series data and contribution to the development of the research methodology and strategy and continuously bring improvisation besides following the regular methodology
- Continuous review of the methodology being applied in view of observations made during crop tours, difference surveys etc.
- Collection and evaluation of primary and secondary data and performing sanity check on databases and external sources to ensure consistency of data.
- Creating automation tools using macros, power pivot in MS Excel Power BI and Python coding , which can help in making the task of updating data, swift and efficient.
- Estimate Cotton and production areas by collecting data from a) official sources regularly b) Confirmation of area estimates through visual estimation of area changes c) Farmer interviews d) Gathering of information from third parties like research institutes, state farms etc.
- Estimate supply and demand of entire cotton textile value chain such as upstream and downstream of cotton industry and track all data i.e such as Govt. Crops estimate, export , import , financial reports of Public textile industry, trade data prices etc.
- Highlight the risks to the Supply & Demand of crops ,upstream and downstream public textile crop estimate by working out various scenarios. Assessment of the impact of various scenarios on yields and associated probabilities such as weather, pests, diseases and changing costs or supply of inputs or labor etc
- Conducting Gin, Mills & Farmers surveys and Balance Sheet reconciliation.
- Creating comprehensive and user friendly databases for cotton supply and demand estimates.
- Coordinate with Agronomists / regional teams for pressing surveys.
- To be able to calculate demand /consumption of agri commodities.
- Bachelors/ Master’s in Maths & Economics / Statistics/Agricultural statistics/ Agri Business.
- 2 to 3 years’ experience with the right skill sets. Fresh graduateswith the right skill set arealso encouraged to apply.
