The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at The Aga Khan University is a dynamic academic centre which serves the diagnostic needs of the country through its clinical laboratory services that spreads across Pakistan. AKUH’s Clinical Laboratory is College of American Pathologists (CAP) accredited and caters to the need of the entire country through its tertiary lab at the main campus and 300+ specimen collection units and 13 stat labs across Pakistan.
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine consists of five major sections namely Chemical Pathology, Haematology, Histopathology, Microbiology, and Molecular Pathology. Each section is academically driven and is highly engaged in research and undergraduate, postgraduate teaching and training.

Aga Khan University invites application for the position of Assistant Manager in the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible to:
- actively participate in the implementation of departmental quality initiatives, as well as measures recommended by JCIA, CAP, and the Healthcare Commission, to enhance clinical and operational standards
- manage and ensure compliance with organizational travel policies, including approvals, expense tracking, conference registrations, and travel-related documentation
- monitor and coordinate the credentialing and re-credentialing processes for faculty and staff pathologists (across outreach services), guiding documentation submission and compliance
- coordinate with multiple departments (Finance, HR, IT, Facilities, etc.) to secure resources and ensure smooth departmental operations
- implement and monitor safety and security policies through regular audits, training programs, and compliance inspections
- organize and schedule departmental meetings, prepare accurate minutes, and maintain comprehensive documentation for record-keeping
- assist in overall administrative and operational functions, continuously reviewing and improving procedures to drive innovation and efficiency
- any other duty or responsibility assigned by the reporting person.
Eligibility Criteria / Requirements:
- a minimum of Master’s degree, preferably in Business Administration, or equivalent
- a minimum of three years of relevant experience in hospital/healthcare administration services
- excellent organizational and administrative skills, with attention to detail
- knowledge of resource management including financial management
- team-oriented with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
- ability to handle confidential information with integrity and professionalism
- strong supervisory, communication and interpersonal skills
- good negotiation skills with knowledge of operational planning, project management and marketing
- positive attitude and ready to accept change
- ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- proficiency in MS Office.
