About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Medical Billing Consultant to help us understand, structure, and improve our U.S. medical billing processes. Our internal team is non-technical and new to the domain — we’re looking for someone who can break down the entire billing workflow, train our team , and guide the setup of an efficient, compliant billing system from scratch.

This is a strategic, advisory role , with occasional hands-on billing support when needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Educate and guide a non-technical team on the end-to-end U.S. medical billing cycle.
• Explain billing workflows, tools, codes, and terminologies in a simplified and structured manner.
• Help design or improve current billing processes — from patient intake to claim submission and denial management.
• Recommend systems, templates, or software suited to our needs.
• Provide oversight and direction as we build internal capability in billing.
• Step in for limited hands-on billing tasks (if needed) to demonstrate best practices.
• Share insights on how to avoid common errors, reduce rejections, and ensure compliance.

Requirements

• Minimum 5–7 years of U.S. medical billing experience , with a strong understanding of how to teach and guide non-specialists.
• Familiarity with CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS codes, insurance guidelines, and denial workflows.
• Proven experience working in or consulting for medical billing teams, especially in BPOs or remote setups.
• Comfortable with common billing software (e.g., AdvancedMD, Kareo, Athena, eClinicalWorks).
• Strong communication and mentorship skills — able to explain complex billing systems in simple terms.
• Availability for 2 hours per day , flexible to team timing.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in pathology/lab billing will be a strong plus.
• Exposure to setting up or streamlining billing processes for small practices or offshore teams.
• Knowledge of automation tools or process optimization techniques is a bonus.
