Position Overview
REMOTE OPPORTUNITY!
As a Certified Orthopedic Coder at Arrow you will be responsible for accurately reviewing and coding orthopedic medical records to ensure proper assignment of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes. Your work will directly impact revenue integrity and compliance for our orthopedic clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Review medical records and operative reports to assign appropriate CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes specific to orthopedic procedures.
- Ensure coding is accurate and compliant with federal and state regulations, payer-specific guidelines, and internal policies.
- Query providers when documentation is incomplete or unclear.
- Stay up to date with the latest coding changes, especially those specific to orthopedics.
- Collaborate with billing and revenue cycle teams to ensure claims are submitted correctly and in a timely manner.
- Respond to coding-related denials and assist in appeals when necessary.
Required Qualifications
- Certification: CPC, CCS, or equivalent from AAPC or AHIMA. Specialty certification in orthopedics (e.g., COSC) is strongly preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 2–3 years of recent orthopedic coding experience.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and orthopedic procedures.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems and coding tools (AAPC)
- Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality and compliance.
- Must be able to work during Eastern Standard Time (EST) business hours.
