The Outreach and Research Programme of the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health has ten community-based field sites across Pakistan (including four in Karachi) and focuses on research for betterment of women and child health. The Department has a Nutritional Research Laboratory as well as an Infectious Disease Research Laboratory that cater to the needs of its research projects. ResponsibilitiesYou will be responsible to:
- perform routine technical Research Lab procedures, Clinical tests/Biochemical test on daily basis according to Research Laboratory protocols/Manual
- tabulate reports for various tests conducted
- collect and process samples as per the protocol/guidelines stated in the Research Lab procedure Manual for individual projects to provide quality service on a daily basis or as and when required
- follow the seniors in the implementation of Safety Standards according to Research Laboratory Safety manual on a daily basis for own safety and the safety of the others
- prepare stock solutions, master mixes, and other chemicals/reagents as and when required for individual projects
- attend all the Trainee lectures during the training period
- participate in 70 Percent practical hands-on training work and 30 percent class room lecture sessions
- perform any other duty assigned by the Supervisor
You should have:
- a Bachelor/Master of Science in Microbiology, Molecular/Biotechnology/Genetics or Chemistry from an HEC recognised or reputable foreign university. Moreover, degree holders from the previous two academic years would be preferred
- a minimum experience of few months or fresh graduate
- strong work subject knowledge
- ability to immediately follow written and oral instructions
- the ability to perform as a good team player
- good knowledge of MS Office

- prepare individualized therapy plans for patients
- perform 6 monthly standardized assessments to monitor progress or decline
- conduct teaching sessions for parents and facilitate group sessions
- impart training on standardized tests, therapy plan development, execution and monitoring
- maintain documentation of patient notes and educational plans
- comply with department policies and organizational quality standards
- participate in quality initiatives under supervision
- attend/ Participate in departmental meeting, conferences, seminar, and lectures
- participation in academic sessions and keep oneself updated and train fellow therapists
- be compliant with the clinical and managerial key performance indicators pertaining to JCIA, patient care and admin outcomes
- be compliant with organizational and departmental policies, and work in line with the defined quality and clinical practice guidelines.
You should have:
- Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred) in Occupational Therapy or equivalent from an HEC-recognized institution with at least 16-years of education completed.
- at least 3-4 years of relevant experience of working with children independently in a recognized healthcare organization.
- ability to perform standardized assessments of patients and, monitor and record patient progress
- knowledge of counselling and other healthcare techniques.
- ability to formulate care plan and deliver care to patients with complex needs.
- readiness for new learning and challenges associated with neuro-rehabilitation and attitude to accept guidance and constructive criticism.
- ability to effectively work in teams as well as independently and contribute to ongoing rehabilitation team building.
- excellent interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate and manage relationships with peers and rehabilitation team members as well as patients and their families.
- Willingness to conduct afternoon and evening clinics.
