Job Description
Are you a Research Analyst seeking to go beyond traditional research and influence real market development?
Join PMRC , Pakistan’s premier institution for mortgage market development, and play a key role in shaping the future of affordable housing and long-term finance. We are looking for a Research Analyst – Housing & Financial Markets who combines strong financial research skills with an interest in housing finance, mortgage markets, and refinancing trends.
This is an opportunity to apply your equity or investment research background to a critical national sector – mortgage and housing finance – with a real social and economic impact.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead high-impact research on Pakistan’s mortgage and housing finance market — a growing sector with deep social and economic relevance.
- Analyze financial performance and trends across housing finance providers, including banks, NBFCs, and refinancing institutions, similar to sector research roles in capital markets.
- Conduct deep-dive studies on refinancing models, long-term fixed income instruments, and global best practices — bringing strategic thinking to a policy-driven market.
- Use your research skill set (valuation, forecasting, macro analysis) to develop insights that shape national housing strategies and refinance policies.
- Author premium research content — white papers, market insights, and sector outlook reports — that influence banks, regulators, DFIs, and policy makers.
- Explore innovative mortgage-backed securities and refinance structures, contributing directly to product innovation and financial inclusion.
- Collaborate with senior management, Risk, Treasury, and Product teams to deliver data-driven business decisions.
- Track developments in monetary policy, yield curves, and housing demand dynamics, and translate those into strategic opportunities for PMRC and its partners.
- Drive cross-market research on mortgage ecosystems (e.g., Indonesia, Malaysia etc.) to identify lessons and successful models for Pakistan.
- Gain exposure far beyond typical research role by having a front-row seat to interactions with SBP, MoF, and multilateral partners.
Qualification & Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related disciplines from an HEC-recognized university or a reputable foreign institution.
- Atleast 5 years of experience in:
- Equity research, investment analysis, or macroeconomic research (preferably covering financial institutions, banks, or NBFCs).
- Exposure to housing finance, real estate investment, or fixed income markets is a strong plus.
- Experience working at brokerage houses, investment banks, mutual funds, or financial advisory firms is highly desirable.
- Understanding of financial products, capital markets, and regulatory environments in Pakistan.
- Strong analytical and financial modeling skills
- Understanding of macroeconomics and capital markets
- Clear, effective written and verbal communication
- Proficient in Excel; Bloomberg/Power BI is a plus
- Strategic, detail-oriented, and collaborative
