Job Description
Responsible for handover & takeover of incoming/outgoing shift unit/ward information related to patients, including introductions, patient files, medication charts, investigation reports, intake and output charts, etc. Provide direct patient care throughout the shift in a calm, courteous, and tactful manner. Ensure quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards, measuring health outcomes against patient care goals, and making necessary adjustments. Resolve patient problems and needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies. Prepare medication requisitions and administer medication. Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Protect patients and staff by adhering to infection control policies, medication procedures, and controlled substance regulations. Assist doctors/consultants during rounds and record instructions. Assist doctors with procedures, prepare patients physically and emotionally, and ensure all necessary equipment is available. Maintain accurate and complete documentation of nursing care following SOPs. Follow doctors' orders and raise concerns regarding prescribed treatments. Ensure that medical supplies are well stocked, stored properly, and readily available. Check and record blood sugar levels. Perform blood draws and other lab procedures on patients. Monitor and record vital signs, especially for pre- and post-operative patients. Perform IV cannulation following the Clinical IPPs policy manual. Report incidents related to patients, staff, visitors, or untoward occurrences promptly. Supervise Nurse Aids, Student Nurses, and other staff as required. Perform delegated patient and non-patient tasks as directed by the Ward Incharge or Nursing Coordinator. Perform any other duties assigned by the Supervisor or Head of Department. Note:

Consult with the concerned specialist if admitted patients develop new issues and record advice in HMIS.
Perform scheduled and emergency surgeries, involving the relevant consultant in case of complications.
In life-threatening emergencies, consult the on-call consultant and contact the Head of Department if communication issues arise.
Attend departmental meetings.
Supervise SVD with VBASC, expulsion, and abortion procedures.
Perform C/S, ERPOC, manual removal of placenta, and EUA procedures.

The Clinical Nurse Instructor is responsible for maintaining and developing following key performance areas:
CLINICAL PRACTICE

Delivers competence-based programs for nursing staff with a focus upon improvement of skills and retention of knowledge. Supports staff development with educational activities. Evaluates the effectiveness of educational programming. Prepares short- and long-term planning and programs to address identified needs. QUALITY IMPROVEMENT AND MANAGEMENT Undertake the necessary components of the performance review process. Promote and participate in quality improvement activities and organizational accreditation processes. Participate in relevant committees, meetings and service activities as required and provide relevant feedback and dissemination of appropriate information. Assess and evaluate the quality of education resources and equipment required to meet the learning needs of nurses in the retrieval environment. Participate in critical incident debriefings as required. Participate in the development and review of clinical guidelines. RMOs/SMOs must work within their experience and competence, and clearly communicate all orders from consultants and team members while caring for patients. Provide medical coverage, both routine and emergency, during duty hours to ensure 24-hour hospital service. Evaluate admitted patients by taking complete history, performing physical examinations, and documenting in HMIS. Conduct morning, evening, and night ward rounds, preferably with nursing staff, ensuring patients are visited appropriately. Record patient progress and events in HMIS following rounds, examinations, or procedures. Seek advice from senior team members regarding patient health issues. Receive handover reports from the previous RMO/SMO and attend ward areas within an hour of starting duty in each shift. Provide pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care for admitted patients. Manage laboring patients and perform vaginal deliveries, including vacuum deliveries, as per residency/competency level and supervision. Assess and manage patients in the ER; complex antenatal cases should be evaluated by SMO and endorsed by specialists before admission or discharge decisions. Perform medical procedures within their experience and competence as advised by the consultant. Coordinate with nursing staff to monitor patient progress and respond to their requests for examinations. Discuss discharge medications with patients and prepare discharge summaries. Maintain confidentiality of all patient medical information; avoid leaking information at all costs. Provide urgent medical attention and treatment to staff or visitors in case of accidents or sudden illnesses, in liaison with the medical team. Remain on hospital premises during duty; if an RMO/SMO is absent, the previous MO must stay until a replacement arrives to ensure continuous coverage. Comply with all hospital policies, especially those related to health and safety. Maintain effective interpersonal relationships with staff, patients, and families. Note:
