Introduction:


The Aga Khan University was found in 1983 as Pakistan’s first private university, Aga Khan University is a not-for-profit institution and an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network. Starting in 2000, the University expanded to Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, United Kingdom and Afghanistan. AKU began life as a health-sciences university.


The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Aga Khan University is a unique/distinguish establishment which serves the clinical laboratory of Aga Khan University Hospital with academic interest. This department is heavily engaged in undergraduate, postgraduate and technologist training programs. It provides professional training for higher degree in four major areas of Pathology (Chemical Pathology, Hematology, Histopathology, and Microbiology). Currently, there are approximately 61 Faculty, including 3 part time, 2 visiting faculty members, and 41 Residents.

Responsibilities:


  • assist the Principal Investigator (PI) in coordinating workflows for ongoing research projects
  • coordinate with research teams, administrative staff, and manage project-related procurement processes
  • prepare project documents including ethical review submissions, consent forms, and perform data entry and analysis
  • demonstrate an understanding of molecular and cellular biology with practical bench skills
  • conduct literature reviews on study subjects and draft summary data, reports, and relevant documentation
  • collaborate with the PI to collate data for manuscript development
  • support the preparation of new research grant applications as assigned
  • perform any other duties or responsibilities assigned by the reporting supervisor.

Requirements:


  • hold a master’s or MPhil degree in biosciences, microbiology, or molecular biology with relevant research and administrative experience
  • possess hands-on bench research experience
  • demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • possess experience in writing research reports and related documentation
  • coordinate diverse project assignments, prepare meeting minutes, and compile project reports
  • demonstrate strong critical thinking, organizational, and management skills
  • exhibit teamwork, maturity, independence, and versatility to work in multiple roles including lab and bio-specimen processing, and data management
  • possess excellent organizational capabilities and experience in literature review and research writing
  • demonstrate proficiency in computer use and related office software.

  • To ensure compliance with the applicable quality standards of certified and accredited bodies with whom the organization is certified and / or accredited.
  • Undertaking activities for continues for professional development in line with the plan.
  • Any other duty or responsibility assigned by the reporting person.

Eligibility Criteria / Requirements:


  • MSc degreein relevant field of study
  • 2-3 years of related work experience in health care institution
  • excellent hands on strategic management planning and trouble shooting skills
  • proficiency in computer skills
  • good knowledge of employee relation techniques
  • good communication & interpersonal skills.
