The Advanced Tech R&D team is looking for a research engineer passionate about machine learning applied to generative audio, video, and natural language use cases. You will collaborate with a team of machine learning experts to develop advanced technology and solutions for mobile phones, headsets, IoT devices, and cloud outlets. The team includes algorithm, hardware, and software engineers working together to develop, port solutions to prototypes showcased at tradeshows and customer events, and support product commercialization.

1. Develop innovative machine learning algorithms for audio and speech generative models, publish papers, and file patents; aim for state-of-the-art performance in audio/NLP applications.
2. Combine features from multi-modalities such as video, audio, sensors, and location.
3. Demonstrate solutions to technical and business audiences, then work with commercialization teams to deploy solutions on Qualcomm platforms and customer devices.

• R&D experience with audio and speech generative networks, synthesis, restoration, and TTS models.
• Familiarity with recent ML trends (diffusion models, U-Nets, Transformers, BERT, BART) and traditional statistical techniques.

• Experience developing generative models in audio and speech.
• Proficiency in designing, implementing, and training DL algorithms using frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Willingness for hands-on R&D in modeling audio, speech, and text data.
• Experience working in cross-disciplinary, geographically dispersed teams.

• Required: Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering.
• Preferred: Doctorate in the same fields.

• At least 2 years of R&D experience in computer vision, image, NLP, or multimodal applications in academia or industry.

Purpose of the Role

Lead product development, sampling, and technical support for knitting, dyeing, and finishing processes, focusing on quality and process efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

1. Product Development and Innovation

• Lead end-to-end product development (yarn to finishing), improve existing products and processes, and research new technologies.
• Define steps and ensure timely completion of sampling for new developments.

1. Team Development and Knowledge Management

• Develop, manage, and mentor a team of technical engineers, ensuring high-quality output.
• Define and develop SOPs for R&D processes.

1. Performance Reporting and Compliance

• Design and define processes for medium- and long-term performance goals.
• Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and environmental standards, including Bluesign and Oeko-Tex Standard 100.

1. Testing and Cross-functional Collaboration

• Oversee testing of new equipment and yarn dyeing projects.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product development, marketing, and manufacturing.

This role sits within the Indirect Procurement Delivery group, which covers the core procurement activities from category management, strategic and operational sourcing, supplier management, contracting, content strategy definition, and execution. As a Procurement Manager in Research & Development, you will bring analytical thinking, planning, execution, and focus to the procurement sourcing and delivery capability area. Applying both general procurement and specialized knowledge or expertise in a specific commodity or spend area, you will ensure effective and efficient delivery of core procurement services and continuous improvement of automation and content availability.

You will collaborate closely with internal procurement (i.e. Chapters and capability areas such as customer relationship management, contracting, solutions, analytics, etc.) and business stakeholders to translate business needs into sourcing and spend management activities and content enhancement.

You will work closely with other team members to support customer demand, improve the customer buying experience, deliver on day-to day operational activities, and provide capacity and expertise to deliver productivity and other customer oriented projects/solutions.

As a Procurement Manager in Research & Development, you will play a variety of roles according to your experience, knowledge, and general business requirements, including but not limited to:

• You are a Category and sourcing subject matter specialist in Research & Development conducting market and internal analysis to develop strategies and tactical plans for how Roche should source and negotiate for third party goods and services in order to satisfy stakeholder requirements.

  
  

• You are a Procurement delivery practitioner delivering and executing sourcing strategies by leveraging spend, category know-how, robust sourcing, negotiation, contracting, supplier management methodologies and frameworks and project management skills.
